1.  How do I enroll in a mechanic course?

Enrollment is as easy as clicking here to send a course registration email.   Of course, you can also phone us at 800-226-5980.  Because some classes are limited, schedule your class date as soon as you know the definite date. The mechanic's course begins each Monday, (except for holidays).   (The Military Competency Seminar is usually held once a month.  Contact us for the date.)

3.  Where can I find a FAA office?

There is at least one FAA office in most every state.  The FAA Home Page will give you the telephone number and sometimes a map of how to find your local FAA office.  You MUST have an appointment to meet with an inspector

4.  I was signed off for both A & P, and have already taken the O&P for one rating.   Do I have to get another set of forms to take the O&P for the second?

In rare cases, a person is signed off for both Airframe and Powerplant ratings, and only takes the Oral and Practical for one rating ...let's say Airframe.  After passing the Airframe O&P, the candidate receives an original form 8610-2 back from the examiner.  In order to take the Powerplant O&P, the mechanic needs to present that original 8610-2 form to the examiner, along with two new forms without an FAA signature.
For less paperwork hassle, if you get signed off for both, take both O&P's at the same time.

5.  What are the methods of payment?

AEC accepts cash, checks, money orders, traveler's checks, MasterCard or VISA.   The Designated Mechanic Examiners only accept cash or traveler's checks.

6.  What happens if I fail an exam?

Before taking the actual computer knowledge exam, you should obtain an 85% or better on each section of the study course.  If you take the exam and fail, AEC will pay for one retake per test title.  This means that after a test is failed twice, you will be responsible for any and all other retakes.

For mechanic students taking the Oral and Practical exam...AEC will pay for one retake provided that the retake is taken within 30 days and with the same local examiner.   Because we cannot estimate fees charged by other examiners, AEC will not pay for retakes with examiners outside the Ozark area.

9.      If I fly in, what are my transportation options?

Even though the motels are close by, we suggest that  you have your own form of transportation.  The Dothan, AL Airport has Avis (discount #  AWD L860588), Hertz (discount # 1319381), and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.  Reservations can be made by calling their central registration  numbers.  A local company, Midtown  Motors, has serviced many of our students.   The cars are good and their prices are better. Their number is 334-983-3001.
