14 CFR 61.73 offers U.S. military pilots* the opportunity to transfer their military
training into a civilian license. By taking
the 50-question Military Competency Exam applicants are able to receive the Commercial
License with Instrument Rating. Requirements
for obtaining this license include: - 10 (ten) PIC hours within the last 12 months - Instrument Proficiency Check within the past 12 months. We offer two study methods to prepare for the exam. Either method of study is free of charge.
After passing the Military Competency Exam, the following items must be presented to an authorized Designated Pilot Examiner, or an FAA Pilot Examiner. For your convenience, an authorized Designated Pilot Examiner meets applicants at our office on a monthly basis. Call us for specific dates. A processing fee will apply. - Copy of Aeronautical Orders designating aviator wings. - Documentation of 10 (ten) First Pilot flight hours within the last 12 months (simulator time does not qualify) flight records. - Documentation of Instrument Proficiency Check within the last 12 months usually on the same paperwork as flight records. - Original test result from Military Competency Exam. - FAA Form 8710-1 available at our office or on the FAA Forms page. * Foreign pilots in the U.S. for other than military flight training may also receive the Commercial License with Instrument Rating. The foreign pilot must hold a current license in their home country. Call us for specific details, as this option may be complicated. |
