A&P Courses Begin Every Monday

Mechanic Airframe and/or Powerplant Courses

Before enrolling for either of our mechanics’ course, you must have obtained two originally signed FAA Form 8610-2 authorization forms.

These are obtained by documenting at least 30 months of Airframe AND Powerplant experience or 18 months of Airframe OR Powerplant.  The inspector should give you TWO ORGINALLY signed Forms 8610-2.  (Even if you are signed off for one rating, you must have TWO forms with original signatures.)

          General, Airframe and Powerplant Course:

The course begins each Monday with an average completion time of 10 days, depending upon your ability and your study schedule.

The first two and 1/2 days are spent in a class going over subject matters that you will see on the computer knowledge exams and the Oral and Practical Exam.  After the class, you have access to the computer study lab 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the self paced study.  During this time, help is available for problem areas or weaknesses.  The average person studies two days for each exam.  Typically, students take the first exam on the Wednesday, second exam on Friday, and the last exam on Monday.   The Oral and Practical Exam is usually scheduled for the next Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on your readiness. Of course, everyone studies at a different rate, so the exam dates may vary.
